Chance Meeting With An Adjunct Professor Leads To “Hamilton”
A random conversation at Wendy’s with Adjunct Professor Edward Coffield from the Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts led to a career in stage management for Cody Renard Richard, and eventually employment as an assistant stage manager for the hit Broadway production of “Hamilton.”
After the discussion with Coffield, Richard met with Peter Sargent, dean of the Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts. A 2010 graduate, Richard decided to attend Webster given the university’s connection with the Repertory Theater and its job placement track record.
After graduating, Richard remained in St. Louis for a while before moving on to Kansas City, Los Angeles and New York – where he secured the “Hamilton” engagement.
