Welcome Back: Key Spring Term Dates With the holidays in the rear-view mirror, Spring Term is well underway. Here are a couple of upcoming events to keep in mind:

  • Spring Convocation Tomorrow, January 9, 2020 at 1 p.m. Join your colleagues tomorrow and hear the State of the University at Spring Convocation, which will take place at 1 p.m. in the Winifred Moore Auditorium. It will also be live-streamed at www.webster.edu/live.

  • Coffee & Conversations with the Chancellor, President, and the Deans of the Colleges and Schools January 15 at 3:30 p.m. January 16 at 11 a.m. Stop by Browning Hall 140 to get an update on campus developments, activities, upcoming events, and the results of the adjunct faculty Fall Term survey. These sessions are also a great opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions.

  • Tribute to Dean Emeritus Peter Sargent January 23 at 11:30 a.m. The Webster University community will hold a tribute to the life and career of Peter Sargent, Dean Emeritus of the Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts. The event will be held in the Winifred Moore Auditorium on the main campus and stream live at websterwww.webster.edu/live . For more information, you may visit here.

Student Success Portal Reminders, Updates, and Tools Available Take a moment to learn about recent enhancements to the Student Success Portal, including the addition of a mechanism to flag English proficiency concerns and an Academic Success Plan, which is designed to help undergraduates who find themselves on academic probation for the first time. Information about these additions, can be found here. The article also includes an overview of other improvements to the Success Portal services.

Chess Team Headed to Final Four With its second-place finish at the 2019 Pan-American Intercollegiate Chess Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Webster University Chess Team qualified for the “President’s Cup” tournament in April. The April match will determine which university will be crowned collegiate chess champions in Central and North America. This is the eighth consecutive year that Webster University finished in the top four.
