Adjunct Faculty Members Receive Kemper Awards
Nominated and supported by students and colleagues, the annual Kemper Awards recognize outstanding teaching and commitment. This year, two adjunct faculty members are Kemper Award recipients: David Dixon, of the Business Department in the George Herbert Walker School of Business and Technology, and Thomas Serfass, in the Communications and Journal-ism Department of the School of Communications.
With more than 25 years of experience and 6,000 students taught, David Dixon is known for his passion for teaching and his ability to help students grasp concepts and translate them into real world scenarios.
Thomas Serfass considers his teaching style collaborative and adaptive, and takes pride in his ability to accommodate different learning styles while communicating the curriculum. He’s been a faculty advisor for the Forensics and Debate team for 19 years, and has been described as a kind giving educator.

Virtual Commencement on Track and on Schedule
To accommodate the social distancing rules and travel disruptions because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the University will hold a virtual commencement on May 9 at 9:30 a.m. that fea-tures inspiration from the chancellor, president and academic deans, addresses from fellow alumni, and remarks from Dr. Vladimir Ivkovic, Commencement Speaker and Honorary Degree Recipient. Chancellor Stroble Panel Discussion with St. Louis-Area Higher Ed Leaders
Optimizing existing strengths is essential in the age of coronavirus, Chancellor Elizabeth Stro-ble shared in a panel discussion with St. Louis higher education leaders hosted by FOCUS St. Louis. In the discussion, Dr. Stroble points to the success of Webster Online domestically, but recognizes that online learning has been underutilized in Europe and Asia, where face-to-face interaction is more desirable and online offerings have not been as robust.
